Welcome to my Blog!! It is my desire for this blog to be fun and informative. I want to make you smile and motivate you to live a healthier life.
A little about me. I am an organic gardener, gourmet cook, an ER Doctor. I am a mom to four adult children and a grandma to five wonderful grandkids. I grew up in a family of ten kids on a small family farm in the pacific northwest. Growing our own food was a necessity. While working on our farm, I learned most of my gardening and food preservation techniques. I have also developed my own gardening methods which I will share with you in my posts.
In my cooking/recipe posts, I take what I grow into the kitchen and create recipes from my fresh garden produce in a true garden-to-table concept. Growing up, we had a bountiful farm. The canned, pickled, dehydrated, and preserved food was what we ate during the winter months. I will teach and show you how you can preserve the extra food you have.
I realize not everyone you cook for is into healthy eating all the time. My husband, Farmer Fred, is someone who likes his meat and potatoes. I will post recipes from time to time that includes what I call Fred’s fixings. I will add bacon, deep fry, add extra butter or heavy cream. It is important to eat healthy most of the time, but indulge yourself on occasion. After all, life is fun and enjoyable, and great recipes for good food are part of it.

    1. I don’t grow cactus outside but do have two cactus plants indoors that I put out on my back deck during the summer months.
