With the holidays just around the corner, a Christmas Brunch or breakfast for the out of town crowd wouldn’t be complete without a decadent and delicious twist on a breakfast favorite – French toast. This recipe is sure to impress with a Challah bread sandwich of lightly sweetened cream cheese, dipped in egg, and fried. The stuffed french toast is good enough to stand alone. However, level up with an apple pie compote, candied pecans, and whipped cream for five stars from your guests.

Make the Apple Pie Compote:

The apple pie compote (fancy work for cooked apples) is easy to make. If you have any leftovers, it is delicious with Roasted Pork. Fry the apples in a little butter. Add some apple pie spice, cinnamon, apple cider, and a little flour to thicken it. Set aside to serve with the French toast.

Make the Cream Cheese Filling for the Cinnamon Apple Stuffed French Toast.

This step is another SIS (simple is smart) recipe.   Add powdered sugar and maple syrup to the cream cheese a mix together.  Set aside until ready to stuff the french toast.  Use the leftovers instead of butter on pancakes or waffles.

Assemble and fry the Apple Cinnamon Stuffed French Toast.

Slice the  Challah bread thin.  Remember, you will be making a sandwich.  Spread one slice with a generous amount of the Cream Cheese Filling.  Top with another slice of bread.  ‘

Dip in the egg/milk mixture and fry in a little butter or oil on medium heat.  Make sure each side is a golden brown, and the center is starting to ooze out.  YUM!

Serve and watch your Guests Devour your creation – Cinnamon Apple Stuffed French Toast.

To serve, top either one or two slices of the stuffed French toast with the apple compote.  Add some candied pecans and drizzle with a generous amount of maple syrup.  Top with a dollop of whipped cream.  Serve and enjoy the rave reviews.
