How to Grow an AeroGarden

Grow an AeroGarden.

This tabletop garden made by AeroGarden is a great way to get kids interested in gardening and growing plants for food. It is easy to set-up and maintain. Your kids will love harvesting the lettuce, herbs, peppers and tomatoes.  If you don’t have kids you will enjoy the benefits of growing your own chemical free, fresh herbs, lettuce, peppers and tomatoes.

What kind of AeroGarden should I purchase?

This is the first time I’ve written about a specific gardening product.  However, this one is such a great way to teach kids about growing food that I wanted to share it with you.  Just to let you know, I am not being sponsored or paid to do this post.  I just love this product so much I hope you will be inspired to grow an AeroGarden.

AeroGarden has several different “models” of their hydroponic garden.  Models range in size from 2 to 24 pods and they range in price from $40 to $700.  The pods that are used come pre-planted.

I recommend purchasing the whole kit initially.  Once you have used the kit through a growth cycle, you can customize it with specific plants. The original kit I purchased was a 9 pod herb garden. I was able to harvest fresh herbs from it for almost 6 months before it was time to replant it.

How do I set up an AeroGarden?

The AeroGarden comes with everything you need to set it up and instructions.  Simply add a gallon of water to the base and insert the pre-planted pods into pod holders.  Cover the pods with the little moisture saver domes that are included and follow the instructions on the monitor that is attached to the base.  The monitor lets you set the lights on-off cycle.  It will also prompt you to add water and nutrients when it’s time.

As the plants grow taller, you can adjust the height of the grow lights.

More reasons to buy an Aerogarden.

I love cooking with fresh herbs year-round.  During the winter months, they can hard to come by, especially basil.  My solution to this is to grow your own with this customizable AeroGarden.

Another advantage of growing your own herbs and greens indoors is that the pests can’t destroy your crop.  Also, you will never have to use any chemicals or sprays to keep your plants healthy.

This great little garden can be a great homeschooling project for your kids that are stuck at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic.   So get growing and grow an AeroGarden.
